  • Swing Fore Cesar will host National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at Farmers Brewing Company on Jan. 9 from 4—8 p.m., where current and retired law enforcement officers and dispatchers will receive complimentary drinks, appetizers and Dutch Bros Coffee gift cards.  Action News Now
  • Chico resident Carlos España left Venezuela in 2021 and felt both worry and hope when news of Maduro’s capture reached him, as his family in Caracas still faces hardship. Studying at Chico State and recently engaged, he recalls long lines for gas and empty stores that marked life back home.  Action News Now

  • Chico Natural Foods Cooperative now rounds cash purchases to the nearest nickel due to the end of penny production in November 2025 — credit and debit card transactions remain unchanged.  Action News Now

  • At Chico State University, the annual Bike Auction raised funds on Jan. 7 for the Adventure Outings program — supporting student activities. Chico State Associated Students organized the event to help fund student adventures.  Action News Now

  • At Tuesday night's Oroville Council meeting, Council Member Chuck Reynolds led a moment of silence in honor of late Congressman Doug LaMalfa, who was rushed to Enloe Health on Jan. 5 after suffering an aortic aneurysm. Authorities are investigating his death.  Action News Now

  • The California Department of Water Resources began required flood control releases from Oroville Dam at 6 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, and the spillway flows will continue to drop over the coming week — as the agency works to lower water levels.  Action News Now
