- ➤ The 45th annual celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will take place on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 3:30 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church Parish Life Center (2341 Floral Ave) and will feature drumming, song, stories and a community dinner. - ➤ The BCOE celebrated its first dental apprenticeship graduate, Corie Allen, marking a new hands-on pathway for dental careers in Chico. The graduation ceremony is scheduled for Jan. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The First 5 Butte County Family Center for Learning (Oleander Avenue). Action News Now
- ➤ Chico State nursing students canceled their planned mission trip to Nigeria set for early January because rising unrest and safety concerns left them with unreimbursed travel expenses. The Christina Chesterman Memorial Foundation is organizing future fundraisers in Bidwell Park and Magalia to support the hospital. KRCR

- ➤ Butte County's Air Quality Management District is offering $770,866 for projects to improve air quality with upgrades such as vehicle battery chargers and air filters at schools and health facilities. Proposals are due by 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 9, and an informational Zoom meeting (10 a.m. Jan. 14) is scheduled. Action News Now
