COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Construction at the Chico Aquatic Center advanced today on Garner Lane with Pool C — a lazy river pool featuring 100 feet of beachfront and a play structure. Pool A and Pool B, already installed, are set to be filled by May and the center will open this fall. Action News Now
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Two new downtown projects will move forward after City Council removed an extra review on proposed murals & approved plans for a donut and coffee shop alongside an exhibition gallery in the former 7-Eleven at Main and First. Owner Matt Thiebe expects the update to boost local business. Action News Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Butte and Glenn County Offices of Education and Butte-Glenn Community College will host the 3rd Annual 8th-Grade Career Day on Feb. 26 at the Glenn County Fairgrounds. The event will let 2,000 eighth graders explore different career paths through interactive booths and demonstrations by local educators and professionals. Action News Now
- ➤ Butte College is repurposing an old building into a $8.9 million Agriculture and Natural Resource facility funded by Measure J (the 2016 bond) with work handled by local contractor Slater and Son. Construction began in August and will finish by January 2027. Action News Now
- ➤ ChicoSTART is launching the Next Gen Incubator for young entrepreneurs aged 18 and up in Northern California — the program offers mentorship, interactive sessions and real-world problem-solving to turn innovative ideas into business opportunities. Applications are accepted twice a year. Action News Now

- ➤ On Jan. 14, a Chico cheer team headed to nationals, water rights delays increased costs at Sites Reservoir, and the Butte County Board of Supervisors selected new leadership — all marking key local developments. Action News Now
- ➤ Over the weekend, the Butte County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue team aided lost hikers on Table Mountain and helped a stranded vehicle while conducting training exercises with K9 teams, swiftwater rescue, and snowmobile instruction at Jonesville. The efforts kept the team ready for future calls. KRCR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Butte County Public Health advises residents to get a flu shot as cases rise and offers free vaccination clinics for everyone aged three and up. Clinics will be held in Chico on Jan. 20, Oroville on Jan. 23, and Gridley on Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. KRCR
