- ➤ On Thursday, eight bird watchers visited Hooker Oak Park to view around two dozen species, including sparrows and woodpeckers, as part of the 2026 Snow Goose Festival in Chico. Action News Now

- ➤ Last week, 30 people began the 14-week Citizen's Academy run by the Chico Police Department — a program that helps locals learn about police work. Action News Now
- ➤ Sen. Adam Schiff introduced a bipartisan bill to restore Glenn Medical Center’s critical access status so it can reopen after its CMS designation was lost; the House passed a spending bill with these measures ahead of Senate deliberations by Jan. 30 (while major upgrades remain a challenge). - ➤ Today, the memorial service for Congressman Doug LaMalfa takes place at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico — parking opens at 9:30 a.m., gates open at 10, and the service begins at noon. Action News Now

- ➤ UnitedAg opened a new wellness clinic at 1074 East Avenue, Suite Q to offer affordable healthcare for agricultural workers and residents. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked its first Chico Chamber membership, and CEO Kirti Mutatkar said the clinic aims to break down barriers to care. Action News Now
