- ➤ Friends United in Rescue, a Chico-based nonprofit that began rescuing pets during the 2018 Camp fire, marks seven years by using trap-neuter-return and adoption programs to help feral cats and displaced animals + planning an outdoor sanctuary for older pets. KRCR

- ➤ Chico State University ranked 89th on U.S. News and World Report’s best online degree list + it was the only CSU included when the ranking was released Jan. 27. Action News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, Butte County supervisors sent a letter to the U.S. Forest Service opposing the permanent closure of the Colby Mountain Fire Lookout, which has been shut since October because of costly repairs. Local leaders and community members pushed for its reopening before the next fire season to boost fire-detection. Action News Now
- ➤ Three contracts totaling about $3.4M were approved by Butte County to boost housing and homeless services. The Jesus Center in Chico will receive nearly $2M to purchase a 16-unit permanent property — while Catalyst Domestic Violence Services and True North Housing Alliance get funds to enhance local support services. - ➤ Chico police clarified four-way stop rules yesterday — Officer Daniel Sagastume advised drivers to yield properly at intersections to avoid crashes. Action News Now
