COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A demonstration was held outside Enloe Medical Center yesterday to honor Minneapolis nurse Alex Pretti (killed during immigration enforcement actions), as local nurses organized the event with former colleagues, friends, and other community members attending.  Action News Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chico Concert organizer Rick Anderson announced live music events will take place at the Chico Women's Club this February (and into the coming months). Fans can look forward to top acts performing at this popular venue.  Action News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • PG&E Foundation invites high school seniors, undergraduates and military veterans in its Northern and Central service area to apply for its Better Together STEM Scholarship program — applications are due March 12 with awards by August. The program offers up to $10,000 for 60 students from PG&E shareholders.  Action News Now
  • The Butte College Foundation is accepting scholarship applications for 2026-27, offering 340 awards totaling more than $250K — applications must be submitted by March 15 at 11:59 p.m. Students of all statuses, including high school seniors starting in Fall, can apply online.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Forest Service celebrated its 121st birthday — marking a milestone since President Theodore Roosevelt signed the Transfer Act on Jan. 2 — and its work has long protected natural resources and supported communities.  Action News Now
  • Butte County libraries are now offering in-person assistance for residents to sign up for the new emergency alert system. You can visit any branch or call for help with online registration — ensuring timely access to emergency updates.  KRCR
