- ➤ The Aaron Rodgers NorCal Fire Recovery Fund is accepting applications to boost youth physical and mental wellness in Butte County, focusing on areas affected by the Camp Fire. Nonprofits, public schools and local agencies can apply from Feb. 3 through March 3 for grants between $5,000 and $25,000. KRCR
- ➤ Chico Animal Shelter now offers walk-in visits Monday to Friday between 2PM and 4PM to view adoptable animals — no appointment is needed during these hours, while weekend visits require a booking. Action News Now

- ➤ The Starbucks at Broadway and Third Street announced it will close by March 1 — ending 27 years of service in downtown Chico, according to the Downtown Chico PBID. - ➤ Pleasant Valley High School won the 2026 Butte County Academic Decathlon on Saturday, beating Las Plumas High School by 51 points. The team, led by coaches Mike Brooks and Beth Burton, will represent the county at the California State Academic Decathlon in Santa Clara from March 20-22. Action News Now
- ➤ Chico State University banned new fraternity recruitment for the spring semester to curb hazing after incidents led to probation for several groups (Delta Chi, Sigma Pi, and Phi Kappa Tau); fraternities not in the Interfraternity Council may recruit and resume in fall following review. - ➤ Enloe Health is offering its Invest in the Future Scholarship to medical students from local high schools or Chico State who plan to practice locally; applicants may receive up to $3,000 if they apply by Wednesday, Apr. 1, with winners announced by Thursday, Apr. 30. Action News Now

- ➤ The Butte County Board of Supervisors is set to consider a contract with Sacramento-based Ascent Environmental to reduce roadside fuels along primary evacuation routes. If approved, the agreement will run through November and pay over $275,000. Action News Now
