- ➤ Heavy snow on Thursday prompted the volunteer Butte County Search and Rescue team to deploy its snow cat (with a four-track system and advanced navigation) to rescue three stranded people and provide urgent help for two others, urging mountain travelers to carry emergency communication devices. - ➤ On Sunday, Feb. 22 at 12 p.m., the Chico PD dedicated a memorial plaque at 118 Main Street to honor Officer Carleton Bruce— the department’s only fallen officer who was fatally shot in 1938 responding to a disturbance call at Joe's Tamale Parlor. Action News Now
