  • The City of Chico will host a three-day open house from March 2-4, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 441 Main St to collect community input on the Downtown Revitalization Project; residents and business owners can review design concepts that stress accessibility, walkability and connectivity (guiding future planning).  Action News Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Chico-based startup Red Line Safety received a $50,000 grant from CalOSBA to expand its wearable technology that monitors firefighters’ health, location and environmental risks in real time. The company will launch the device in a few months.  KRCR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Chico State officials are studying Whitney Hall (renovate or rebuild) after its closure in 2023 due to unsafe systems as students face limited on-campus housing; the feasibility study will shape the future of the historic dorm.  Action News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • After heavy snow hit Butte County on Feb. 23, volunteer-run Search and Rescue used a snow cat to help residents in distress — showing quick local action during challenging weather.  Action News Now
  • Helicopters will fly over Butte County this week as the California Department of Fish + Wildlife conducts deer surveys, weather permitting, so residents may notice the activity overhead.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews are replacing 1,750 feet of 60-70 year-old water mains near downtown along West 12th and West 14th streets between Chestnut and Hazel Avenues, impacting about 200 homes with detours and brief water shutoffs until May—improving fire flow for emergency hydrants.  Action News Now

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Eggnog, a 9-month-old pit bull mix, was adopted after a long stay at Haven Humane. Staff noted he warmed up quickly to people — his new family says he is a true delight.  KRCR
