BUSINESS NEWS

  • Cloud Social held its ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday in Chico and now offers a rental space for up to 100 guests. The venue has hosted about 40 events (including showers, live bands, and corporate gatherings) since opening.  Action News Now
  • Construction crews are renovating the former 99 Cent Store at North Valley Plaza to house Chico’s (second) Petco store. The new location will serve north side pet owners, although the opening date has not yet been announced.  Action News Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chico is bustling with arts and community events as today's shows by March Fourth and Heated Rivalry Night kick off a weekend of free museum exhibits during Butte County Museum Weekend, a Lit Fest at The Allies Pub on Feb.28, and local cultural gatherings through Feb.29.  North State Public Radio
  • Chico Theater Company is preparing to stage its production 'Four Old Broads' soon at its downtown venue (tickets will be sold at the box office).  Action News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Butte College is projected to reach more than 10,300 full-time equivalent students for the 2025-26 academic year, returning to pre-Camp Fire and pandemic enrollment levels. Enrollment increased steadily in fall 2024 and spring 2025 and is expanding across the main campus and added learning centers (including dual enrollment programs).  Action News Now
  • More than 1,600 eighth graders from Butte and Glenn County schools attended the third annual career day at the Glenn County Fairgrounds on Feb. 26, where students explored exhibits that highlighted various career paths + tips for excelling in modern workplaces.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Kasey Reynolds said Chico removed 76 people from an encampment near the Lindo Channel in one of its largest anti-camping operations since summer 2023; the move aims to keep neighborhoods safe & prevent garbage from polluting the water supply.  KRCR
