  • Tickets for CHAT's Pancakes for CHAT breakfast fundraiser are on sale for Sunday, April 5 at CARD's Creekside Rose Garden on Vallombrosa Avenue, with funds for affordable housing. Attendees can enjoy pancakes, eggs, a petting zoo, face painting, raffle prizes, and an Easter Egg hunt starting at 10:30 a.m.  Action News Now
  • Chico Housing Action Team (CHAT) is celebrating two years of Everhart Village by launching a fundraising campaign to raise $200,000 to keep the shelter running. The shelter, built in February 2024, offers 20 beds and helps residents with behavioral health, case management, life skills, and housing navigation.  Action News Now

  • Petsmart is renovating the former 99 Cent Store building at North Valley Plaza (marking its second location) with construction underway and an opening date yet to be announced. The Chico Planning Commission confirmed the project revives the long-vacant space.  Action News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Paradise Chocolate Fest announced a writing contest for K-12 students in Butte County to craft original chocolate-themed stories to be mailed with entry forms by April 15 — winners will be celebrated at the Fest on May 9 at 11:30 a.m. on the Main Entertainment Stage.  Action News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Boehringer Ingelheim recalled a batch of its IMRAB 3TF rabies vaccine on Feb. 13 (some vials contained sterile water) and local veterinarians advised pet owners to revaccinate for continuous protection.  KRCR
  • Chico State University is offering free drink spike tests for students to help ensure safe campus experiences; tests are available at the Wellcat Prevention Office, the Well & the Health Center.  Action News Now
