- ➤ The Downtown Chico Business Association will host First Bloom: A Thursday Night Market Preview on Saturday, March 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Downtown Plaza, offering a sneak peek of the market season starting April 9 and highlighting the Young Entrepreneur Initiative (giving high school students business experience). - ➤ After a delivery truck knocked down the flagpole at East Lindo Senior Apartments yesterday, local veterans including Shane Dalton stepped in to ensure the flag was respectfully handled. Action News Now
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Tom Hagler, a retired pilot and aircraft mechanic, died on Saturday when the friend's plane he was flying crashed in Butte Valley (his daughter said a possible medical emergency may have contributed), and he is survived by five children and five grandchildren. Action News Now

- ➤ Mandy Peterson, a Chico State graduate student, leads trauma-focused research and mentors peers while planning to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology. She earned the Lt. Rawlins Merit Scholarship and volunteers with Catalyst Domestic Violence Services in support of survivors. Chico State Today
- ➤ On Monday, Feb. 2, students and community members demonstrated at Chico State to voice concerns about U.S. military involvement in Iran and the campus’ small investment in companies seen as supporting Israel (university officials said less than 1% of its endowment is tied to those funds). KRCR

- ➤ Butte County Public Health wrapped up its first Tobacco Retail Enforcement Operations on Mar. 3 to stop illegal tobacco sales to minors in the county. Action News Now
- ➤ Both councils discussed sending a letter of support for Cal Water's plan to remove PFAS (forever chemicals) from drinking water Tuesday night. The proposal could lead to rising water rates pending CPUC approval as the project moves forward. Action News Now
