- ➤ Chico resident Brandon Michael Ellingson was arrested following a traffic stop on Mariposa Avenue on March 11 when officers seized fentanyl pills and a loaded handgun & his residence later revealed 3D printers, assault rifles, and thousands of rounds while Alejandro Vargas Garcia was detained on March 13 after a Palermo home search uncovered nine assault rifles and additional evidence of illegal gun manufacturing and fentanyl trafficking. - ➤ A pedestrian hit by a vehicle on March 1 died from injuries sustained in the collision, police said— the driver stayed at the scene and tests ruled out alcohol and drugs, while an investigation continues. KRCR

- ➤ Aurora Loomis, a senior at Hearthstone Charter High School, became the first student member of the Butte County Board of Education when she was sworn in in January and now works with other board members to support students and shape policies—she will help find a successor when she graduates in June.
