Local artists are painting murals ahead of Saturday's Maker's Muse Street Fair as officials close Orange Street between 6th and 7th from noon to 10 p.m. Organizers expect about 1,000 people to attend the fair — a detail that highlights the event's scale.

After the Park Fire, the Butte County Resource Conservation District launched the Recharge Enhancement Pilot Project to slow erosion in Big Chico Creek Watershed by installing over 1,500 rock weirs to slow and spread water flows.

The project is funded by a $5.5 million grant from the Vina Groundwater Sustainability Agency — it uses birch wood and rock structures placed one foot apart to capture sediments.

Today, the Butte County Association of Governments unveiled a plan to improve B-Line bus services with route changes such as increased frequency on Route 5 and a new Paradise Transit Center on Birch Street.

The improvements will extend over the next 18 to 24 months and include a passenger portal for paratransit in late spring as well as zero-emissions buses and a potential new route from Chico to Sacramento in 2026 — efforts to update transit across the county.
