- ➤ The Community Action Agency of Butte County will host a food distribution event on Friday in Chico from 10 a.m. until noon or until supplies run out at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 735 W East Ave—attendees should be in a vehicle and follow traffic flow guides. - ➤ The North State Breastfeeding Coalition’s Breast Milk Donation Drive will start tomorrow at county donation sites such as the Chico WIC Office—open from 10 a.m.—2 p.m.—where parents can drop off frozen breast milk that is not more than nine months old. The milk will be processed by Mothers’ Milk Bank to help feed babies in need. Action News Now
- ➤ The Butte County Department of Behavioral Health launched an awareness campaign in March after a community health assessment found the suicide rate was nearly 60% higher than the state average — about 16 per 100,000 compared to 10 per 100,000 residents. Program coordinator Anjeanette Andrade said higher firearm ownership and a larger older-adult population may have contributed to this trend. North State Public Radio
