Creekside Cafe and Mercantile on Humboldt Avenue in Chapmantown marks one year of ownership under Gypsy Andrews by hosting weekly events like open mics, a free market, and senior conversation groups.

The cafe plans to add a community garden to boost neighborly connection as local store closures challenge business.

Great State Coffee Company will move into the historic space at 3rd and Broadway that once housed a 27-year Starbucks run — the local brand will highlight original brickwork and a welcoming design.

The coffee shop is set to open in August.

Chico State was named a Top Producing Institution of Gilman Scholars for 2001–2025 by the U.S. Department of State’s scholarship program, highlighting its strong support for study abroad for students with financial need.
