CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Gridley Police said a student was stabbed by another student on Wednesday morning at Gridley High School — the victim was taken to a hospital and a juvenile suspect was detained while all students were dismissed by 10:45 a.m. KRCR
- ➤ Jeffrey Lloyd Funkhouser, 57, was arraigned on Wednesday after being charged with raping his nine-year-old neighbor last Friday and was held without bail—officers arrested him on Saturday after finding him behind a structure and later recovered more evidence at his Big Bend Road home. KRCR

- ➤ A wind advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. today—gusts up to 45 mph may knock unsecured objects down and lead to power outages. Butte College Drama Department will launch multiple performances of the musical comedy The Trail to Oregon! in April to showcase student talent. Action News Now

- ➤ California’s State Superintendent released the Distinguished Schools list for 2025 and three schools from Butte and Shasta Counties were honored among 336 statewide. Nord Country School in Chico, Boulder Creek Elementary and Lassen View Elementary were recognized for closing the achievement gap or achieving high student performance — a key part of the annual honor program. - ➤ Chico Country Day School students from two fifth-grade classes are raising funds to collect at least $2,000 needed to purchase 20 water filters for communities in Uganda—this effort is part of the Walk for Water event set for April 12 at One Mile Recreation Area in Bidwell Park. Action News Now

- ➤ On April 2, the City of Chico will hand out seven-day notices to people camping at three public properties—Downtown Chico, Depot Park, and Teichert Ponds—as part of enforcing its anti-camping ordinances under the Warren v.
