- ➤ Community Alliance with Family Farmers will host a free workshop on Sunday, March 30 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lassen Traditional Cider on Entler Avenue in Chico to show local farmers how the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act will affect their operations (attendees can ask questions, get free technical assistance, and enjoy food with beverages available for purchase). - ➤ Butte Humane Society has reached capacity and is asking local dog lovers to foster dogs temporarily—giving animals a break from the shelter and freeing space for new arrivals. Executive Director Emily Acevedo explained that the application process helps match families with the right pup—ensuring a smoother transition for both the animal and the shelter. - ➤ Chico State University hosted a Resilience Symposium on Thursday that focused on building environmentally resilient communities after disasters and improving readiness for future events. Action News Now

- ➤ On Thursday morning, the Chico Police Department held a ceremony at Neighborhood Church Fellowship Hall to honor officers — including Officer Tyler Rainey, named Police Officer of the Year for his role in apprehending Kevin Carlson — and key civilian employees. The ceremony also mourned Marysville Police Officer Osmar Rodarte, who was killed in the line of duty, and reminded the community of the risks officers take every day. Action News Now
- ➤ On March 27, CARD held a board meeting - with city officials present - to discuss taking over maintenance at seven Chico city parks, including Depot Park, Children's Park, City Plaza, One Mile, Commanche Creek, Teichert Ponds, and Lower Bidwell Park to improve efficiency. The district currently manages five community parks and 12 neighborhood parks - highlighting its existing role - as it works to maximize resources with the city. Action News Now
