- ➤ Chico artisans and creators will have a new Saturday market tomorrow at Your Local Marketplace— a weekly event showcasing handcrafted goods, food, and community engagement. - ➤ Authorities ended a high-speed chase on Highway 99 when officers forced a white Chevrolet Impala—traveling 93 mph in a 65 mph zone—to exit near Durham and later found the car abandoned near Durham High School, detaining three occupants and arresting a suspect seen running with a firearm while recovering an AR-style ghost gun and a 30-round capacity magazine. - ➤ Chico State graduate Len Jessup has published his Amazon bestseller Self Less Leadership about his journey from student to university president and business school dean. He said his teachers at Chico State taught him to lead with care (he spoke about this in a January talk) and now he tours the nation to help others learn to serve. Chico State Today
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Believe in Chico LLC filed a lawsuit against the city on April 2, arguing that a March referendum canceled the Valley's Edge project—planned to provide over 2,700 homes, parks, and retail spaces—in violation of the California Housing Crisis Act. The city now has 30 days to respond in court. KRCR
- ➤ Chico City Council will meet with its legal team (closed session) on Tuesday, April 15 to discuss a lawsuit filed by Believe in Chico, LLC that claims the city broke state law by letting a March referendum on the Valley's Edge project go forward. The suit seeks to reinstate project approvals that were previously reversed. Action News Now
