- ➤ On April 3, Chico police said that an unidentified male suspect kidnapped a woman at gunpoint on the 2700 block of Eaton Road and shot her during a drive—he then killed himself when his vehicle stopped on the 400 block of E. 5th Avenue during a police pursuit. KRCR
- ➤ Chico police said that on Wednesday morning a man kidnapped a woman at gunpoint on the 2700 block of Eaton Rd.—he drove away, shot her during a chase, and later both were found dead after the suspect shot himself. Action News Now
- ➤ A 17-year-old from Butte County Juvenile Hall appeared in court to face manslaughter charges for a December 9 truck theft near Crescent Drive in Magalia that left 50-year-old Robert Etta dead in a fiery crash—his sentencing is set for May 2. KRCR

- ➤ The Chico Area Recreation and Park District awarded the contract for a new aquatic and recreation center on Thursday night—local contractor Slater & Son received a $27M award with a total project cost of $30M and is now set to begin contract negotiations for a facility on Garner Lane with two pools, a water slide complex and a lazy river. Construction will start in the coming months with completion expected in fall 2026. Action News Now
