CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Chico Police arrested Andrew Lambach for animal cruelty after a citizen reported him striking a small dog around 10:20 a.m. Sunday on the 2600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, and he faces charges for intentional cruelty and outstanding warrants while the dog, which showed soreness, was taken by Animal Control to a local vet for evaluation and is expected to recover. - ➤ A Chico State student was kidnapped at gunpoint before a chase ended in a deadly shooting on April 6—police are investigating the case. Action News Now
- ➤ A convicted felon with ties to the Norte Vatos Locos street gang was arrested by the Tehama County Sheriff's Office in Rancho Tehama after body armor, firearms and ammunition were found during a probation search. Action News Now

- ➤ The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the district court’s dismissal of a lawsuit filed by Chico mother Aurora Regino against Chico Unified School District on April 4—remanding the case for further proceedings. Regino alleges school staff changed her 5th-grade daughter’s name and pronouns without her consent and that the district’s policy violated her rights. Action News Now
