- ➤ Today, the Butte Humane Society holds the fourth annual Woofstock at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds with music, kid activities and food from over 30 local vendors. - ➤ 40-year-old Lorayna Patricia Gonsalves of Chico was convicted of trying to run down a police officer during a wild downtown car chase in September 2023—her erratic driving hit several cars and threatened pedestrians and drivers. Action News Now
- ➤ A Butte County jury convicted Lorayna Patricia Gonsalves, 40, for trying to run over a Chico police officer during a wild car chase in downtown Chico in September 2023—she now faces 25 years to life with a sentencing hearing set for June 4. KRCR
- ➤ Timothy Bahadar, 36, was denied bail on April 10 after he stabbed a man during a fight at a Palermo residence on April 7—he was already out on bail for two previous felony assaults and his victim underwent emergency surgery with his next court appearance set for April 16. KRCR

- ➤ At Chico State University Farm, a demonstration showed a Yamaha Phaser R drone spraying pesticide to disrupt the mating of navel orangeworm moths that damage almond orchards. Brad Anderson from Yamaha Motors said the technology, originally used on Japanese rice fields (and now on wine grapes and tomatoes), may soon be tested on a small scale by local farmers.
