- ➤ The Enloe Mansion, Chico’s newest historic landmark, will begin a 10-year restoration plan that will repair and replace original exterior features including windows, shutters, and a historic elm tree. The project is estimated to cost about $185,000—split between new windows, a roof, and landscaping—and must meet city historic standards. Action News Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Chico State honored Professor Troy Jollimore with the Professional Achievement Honor Award for his work as a teacher, poet and thinker. He has published many writings, including a new book from Oxford University Press—The Virtue of Loyalty—and his work inspires students on campus. Chico State Today
- ➤ Chico State professor Janell Bauer—an award-winning feminist scholar—earned national recognition for her teaching and research that connect theory with real-world practice. She leads the Journalism and Public Relations Department and helps advance the new School of METX. Chico State Today
- ➤ Molly Calhoun — a social work professor at Chico State — received a 2025 Professional Achievement Honor for securing over $8 million in grants that help cover tuition, housing and daily expenses. She also mentors research scholars and a doctoral fellow to build a stronger social work program. Chico State Today
- ➤ Professor Mohammed Albahttiti of Chico State's CIM program has helped students with hands-on projects and extra classes—leading them to win competitions and secure grants—and received the Early Career Community Engagement Award in 2023—an honor for his work with local groups. - ➤ Butte County Search and Rescue bought two new inflatable boats (with grant funds) that will replace a boat (20 years old). Action News Now
- ➤ The City of Chico will enforce its anti-camping ordinance on April 23 by handing out seven-day notices to homeless campers at Comanche Creek Greenway, Windchime Park, and Depot Park—affecting 13, 9, and 8 individuals respectively. City officials say many affected had previously refused shelter or were exited from programs due to behavioral issues. Action News Now
