- ➤ The remains of Private James 'Stanley' Mitchell, a World War II soldier who died in a death camp in the Philippines in 1943, are returning home today. They will arrive at Sacramento Airport at 8:55 a.m. today—escorted through Orland and Hamilton City to Brusie Funeral Home in Chico—as organizers invite the community to honor him with a memorial service planned for May 3 in Hamilton City. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Chico police said a crash occurred on East Avenue when a vehicle driver pulled out in front of a motorcycle traveling eastbound— the motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries and eastbound lanes were closed for about 30 minutes— as emergency crews cleared the scene. The visit featured a campus tour, a shared local meal from the Farm to School Program and a roundtable led by President Steve Perez — highlighting Chico State’s role in advancing regenerative farming practices.
