  • The remains of Private James 'Stanley' Mitchell, a World War II soldier who died in a death camp in the Philippines in 1943, are returning home today. They will arrive at Sacramento Airport at 8:55 a.m. today—escorted through Orland and Hamilton City to Brusie Funeral Home in Chico—as organizers invite the community to honor him with a memorial service planned for May 3 in Hamilton City.  KRCR

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Chico police said a crash occurred on East Avenue when a vehicle driver pulled out in front of a motorcycle traveling eastbound— the motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries and eastbound lanes were closed for about 30 minutes— as emergency crews cleared the scene.  Action News Now

  • The 11th annual Wildflower Music Festival will take place on May 10th from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 20th Street Park in Chico—raising funds for the Wildflower Open Classroom public charter school on Cohasset Road.  Action News Now

  • Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom visited Chico State University Farm on Tuesday, April 22 to honor Earth Day and promote sustainable agriculture. The visit featured a campus tour, a shared local meal from the Farm to School Program and a roundtable led by President Steve Perez — highlighting Chico State’s role in advancing regenerative farming practices.  KRCR
  • Governor Newsom and his wife visited Chico State's University Farm (Tuesday) to learn about regenerative agriculture that helps protect California's natural resources. They toured the farm to see firsthand practices that support sustainable land management.  Action News Now
  • California Governor Gavin Newsom (with his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom) visited Chico State University yesterday to tour the University Farm and review its organic vegetable project and dairy unit practices.
