- ➤ Chico Area Recreation and Park District will host the first Movies in the Plaza on May 9 from 7 to 10 p.m. at City Plaza in Downtown Chico—featuring live music by Webster Moore, a beer and wine garden by 86'D Cocktails, and a screening of the sci-fi comedy Men in Black; the free event welcomes all ages while the beer and wine garden is available only for those 21 and over. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Thursday morning, a car left Highway 299 and crashed into the Trinity River, injuring the female driver and moderately injuring the male passenger while crews searched for the 9-month-old infant submerged in the river. Action News Now

- ➤ Chico police closed part of West 9th Street after a shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. Thursday at a two-story white house at West 9th Street and Normal Avenue—police found a man with a gunshot wound taken to the hospital and later questioned another man emerging at 2 a.m. as the investigation continues.
