- ➤ Vietnam veterans are meeting tomorrow at 9 a.m. in southwest Chico to build a garden on land owned by Richard Brown’s daughter — a local veteran lost in the Camp Fire — and they are asking for community help. Action News Now
- ➤ Northern Star Mills in Chico sold 150 chicks weekly during an earlier egg price surge, but the craze has cooled as families now purchase chicks to teach kids about raising animals (and the life cycle). Action News Now
- ➤ The Butte County Treatment Court Alumni Association (BCTCAA) will host its first annual golf tournament and community outreach event at Table Mountain Golf Course in Oroville on Friday, May 22; registration opens at 7 a.m. and the tournament begins at 8 a.m. with a $25,000 hole-in-one prize available for participants. - ➤ CAL FIRE Butte Unit stopped the Wagon Fire near Feather Falls on Friday afternoon — holding it to four acres using retardant and containment lines; crews deployed engines, water tenders, hand crews, and a bulldozer before releasing air resources and remaining overnight to monitor the burn area. - ➤ Outpatient Records launches a new Latin summer series and vinyl pop-ups in Chico. Creator Matthew Garcia will begin the series on June 4 at Argus Bar and Patio with performances by 3LH and Los Clown Bloods and has a vinyl pop-up planned for Saturday at Bodega Slice Shop. - ➤ CAL FIRE Butte Unit responded to a four acre vegetation fire near Feather Falls last Friday afternoon (reports arrived at 2:33 p.m.) on Lumpkin Road and Craig Access Road east of Lake Oroville; ground and air units were deployed and officials said additional updates are forthcoming. - ➤ Caltrans will repair the eastbound lane of SR 70 near 4 Trees Road in the Feather River Canyon from Monday, May 18 through Thursday, May 21. Motorists should allow extra time as work under 24-hour traffic control may cause delays of about 15 to 20 minutes. Action News Now
- ➤ Hamilton City residents will get local mail service starting Monday when a new post office opens at Second and Main Street after a 16-month closure forced trips to Chico. Action News Now

- ➤ Butte County Public Health said water samples from Big Chico Creek collected May 4 did not detect E. coli O157, though officials warn water quality may change with weather and wildlife. The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for strong winds and low humidity from 5 AM Saturday to 8 PM PDT Monday for areas west of I-5. Action News Now
- ➤ Butte County Search and Rescue airlifted a hiker suffering from heat exhaustion from rough terrain this morning; officials advise residents to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid overexertion as temperatures continue to climb. Action News Now
