- ➤ At Chico State's 135th commencement on May 17, 2025, the university honored 21-year-old Athena Passidakis with a posthumous degree after her tragic death in April as her sister Angelique accepted the diploma on her behalf. The Passidakis family also announced plans for a memorial plaque at the 21st step of East Beach—one of Athena's favorite spots—and a GoFundMe to support Benton Dog Park, where she loved spending time with dogs.
