- ➤ On Memorial Day, the community will honor veterans at two events—one at Chico Cemetery at 881 Mangrove Avenue where the program starts at 10 a.m. with the band at 9:30 a.m. and wreaths laid while historic hearses are shown. A second event at Glen Oaks Memorial Park at 11115 Midway begins at 2 p.m. with bagpipes, a talk by veteran Ed Wrona, a local theater quartet singing the National Anthem and a planned World War II plane fly-over with a shaved ice kiosk. - ➤ Chico’s True North Housing Alliance received a $6.5 million grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development to enhance homeless services at the Howard Slater Navigation Center over the next five years—this funding will expand rapid rehousing, homelessness prevention, and direct financial support, and it will create four housing navigator positions with services expected by summer. - ➤ The Chico City Council is set to discuss a three-year contract with The Holiday’s On Ice for the downtown ice rink—if approved, CARD will manage the seasonal attraction from mid-November to mid-January—and the agreement could keep the rink running for the next few years. Action News Now
- ➤ On Tuesday, City of Chico crews handed out seven-day notices to people camping at three sites. The camps will be cleared next week—enforcement and cleanup are planned. Action News Now
