ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters stopped the forward spread of a hay field fire near Honcut yesterday (close to School Street and Ahart Road) as air and ground crews worked to keep nearby structures safe.  KRCR
  • A fire is burning near Tuscan Butte in Tehama County as Cal Fire crews respond, and officials say at least one structure may be at risk.  Action News Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The owner of Lassen Steakhouse says progress is underway to reopen after a November fire damaged a third of the building. He is working with the insurance company + Tehama County, and more details will be shared soon.  Action News Now
  • The owner of Lassen Steakhouse on Highway 99 said progress is being made with the insurance company (with Tehama County review) to plan a reopening after a fire last November damaged one-third of the building. Reopening details are not yet released.  Action News Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • A local comedy production will present CaptainMan — a superhero spoof written and co-directed by Steve Ferchaud that blends mystery with laughs — this June. The show will run Thursdays through Saturdays from June 4 through June 20 and include Sunday matinees on June 7, 14, and 21.  Action News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Chico State’s Parking Structure 1 closed on June 1 for repairs and upgrades and will remain unavailable until Aug. 15 (the structure is at the corner of West Second and Cherry streets by the WREC) while summer parking permits remain valid in Reserved and General areas.  Action News Now
  • Stony Creek JUSD will begin a four-day school week next school year with classes held Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. — optional enrichment on Mondays offers STEM, arts, and cultural activities for local rural families — while ensuring full instructional time.  KRCR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews will repave South Park Drive in Lower Bidwell Park starting this month, replacing the road’s paving, signs, and vehicle exclusion gates (expected to complete in September) between Cypress Street and Centennial Avenue.  Action News Now
  • Paradise Mayor Steve Crowder will travel to Altadena to advise officials on recovering from the Eaton Fire as part of a growing relationship between communities across California. Crowder, who lost his home in the 2018 Camp Fire, will share his firsthand experience with funding, rebuilding and community resilience.  Action News Now
