- ➤ A pregnant cow fell into a pool in Palermo on Tuesday night — CAL FIRE, NVADG, and Butte County Search and Rescue responded quickly when an NVADG technician used a trail of hay to guide her to an improvised platform — and the cow climbed out safely. Action News Now
- ➤ On June 18, 2025, members from the Chico Police Department — along with University Police, California Highway Patrol and the Butte County Sheriff's Office — gathered at Basque Norte for a Law Enforcement Torch Run that raised funds and awareness for the Special Olympics. Action News Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Chico's Inspire School of Arts and Sciences broke ground on a new campus in a $34 million project funded by state and local money. The new campus will offer better learning spaces for students and alumni—strengthening education in our community for years to come. Action News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chico will begin a roadway rehabilitation project on Petersen Memorial Drive in Lower Bidwell Park on June 23 and the work will last through early August. Brown General Engineering, Inc. will manage the improvements — including pavement and shoulder backing — and the road will be closed to all traffic for public safety. Action News Now
- ➤ The Chico City Council voted to close South Park Drive in Lower Bidwell Park to vehicle traffic beginning Summer 2026 — the decision ignores a recommendation from the Bidwell Park and Playground Commission to keep the road open for one-way traffic. Action News Now
