- ➤ The Builders Village project in Chico, sponsored by the local housing team, will begin construction soon with $16.5 million in funding to create 61 supportive housing units for older adults and people with disabilities—helping prevent homelessness. In Berkeley, the Dwight Way Board and Care project completed construction, adding 15 one bedroom units and offering round the clock support for adults with serious mental illness. Action News Now
- ➤ The Downtown Chico Business Association will serve up to 500 pounds of ice-cold watermelon — from 10 AM to 5 PM today — at the 51st annual Slice of Chico on W. 3rd Street between Broadway and Main Street. Action News Now
- ➤ Residents near Barber Yard reported an increase in wild fox sightings after the new housing development began, and they said the animals have brought fleas into their yards — one resident also said a county ag trapper oddly suggested using paintball guns, while the developer explained the change came after contractors finished a fire break on the property. - ➤ The Chico Area Recreation & Park District will hold the groundbreaking for the new Chico Bike Park on July 16th at 9:30 a.m. at the planned site on Humboldt Road between Forest Avenue and Notre Dame Boulevard (near the future concession stand), starting a six-acre project for riders of all ages.
