- ➤ The Mechoopda Indian Tribe of Chico Rancheria will use a $999,000 grant from the California Jobs First Initiative to plan a new Resilience Hub and Multi-Functional Community Center — the project will offer disaster preparedness services, youth programs, job training and small business help during its planning phase. Chico State’s North State Planning and Development Collective and the Office of Tribal Relations helped secure the grant. Chico State Today
- ➤ One year after the Park Fire, survivors Germain Boivin and Trish Puterbaugh lost their longtime home and plan to move into a house that survived the fire next month—showing hope as cleanup continues. The fire destroyed 233 homes in Cohasset, and new growth in the area signals that recovery has begun. North State Public Radio

- ➤ Explore Butte County earned DMAP accreditation from Destinations International+ the recognition honors its efforts to boost tourism with plans to expand digital marketing and sponsor local events. The group will extend outreach into larger markets and allocate $50,000 for local events to drive economic growth. Action News Now

- ➤ Three Chico State students developed a mixed reality math app that uses a Meta Quest 3S headset and an Einstein avatar to help students see linear algebra in 3-D. They will present the app at a national computer science conference in Crawfordsville, Indiana this fall — a project that aims to show math in a new visual way. Chico State Today
- ➤ Chico State President Steve Perez updated meeting attendees at the Redding West Rotary meeting on July 29 about a 3% budget cut that left a $2.3 billion gap in the CSU budget. He said staff are working to lessen the cut’s impact on students and plan a new building on the campus farm—steps aimed at supporting the university’s future. KRCR
