Brandi Jacobs appeared in Butte County court facing 39 animal cruelty charges after Oroville police arrested her last week and seized 38 living dogs (and a puppy's body) from her Fallbrook Avenue residence.

An Oroville man pleaded no contest in Butte County Superior Court Thursday to felony charges for assaulting his child's mother in front of their toddler—he violated a restraining order and struck her—and he remains in custody with sentencing set for August 28.
