- ➤ A car crashed into a home in Magalia around 12:30 a.m. Monday—injuring residents. Action News Now
- ➤ On Aug 4, 2025, a car carrying two girls (aged 13 or 14) and an adult crashed into a Magalia house, injuring the driver and people inside while the girls were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Action News Now
- ➤ In Magalia, a car crashed into a house on August 4 causing damage while an update on Sycamore Pool showed water quality is safe. An early-morning fire broke out in Palermo on August 4—fire crews responded to the blaze. Action News Now
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Gary Mathias and four friends watched a basketball game at Chico State in 1978 and were last seen at Behr's Market (now Downtown Liquor and Market) before four were found dead while Mathias remains missing and would be 72 today; the Yuba County Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information to call (530-749-7777). - ➤ Chico Public Works Director Erik Gustafson explained that extreme heat and water stress cause summer limb drop in trees such as valley oaks and sycamores, which can lead to heavy branches snapping unexpectedly. He advised locals to stay alert under large trees and avoid wearing headphones so they can hear any cracking sounds. Action News Now

- ➤ Chico broke ground on North Valley Fiber at Chapman Elementary School on August 4th to build a city-owned network that will bring high-speed internet to residents, businesses and public agencies. The project will support economic growth by delivering up to 10-gigabit internet in underserved areas—first customers are expected by October 1 and full build-out is anticipated by April 2026. KRCR

- ➤ City officials say the swimming advisory remains in effect at Sycamore Pool as weekly tests show total coliform levels remain below unsafe limits. They note that Butte County Public Health will await CDC results for E. coli 1057—runoff from the Park Fire may be causing higher bacteria levels and could lead to a colored warning system.
