- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of Butte County is accepting donated aluminum cans to fund affordable housing projects—Habitat Rebuilds in Paradise and the Rosalynn Court Project in Chico. The drive is supported by Habitat International and Novelis, and donors in August can receive a commemorative t-shirt while supplies last. Action News Now
- ➤ Chico State University Farm opens its peach orchard to the public Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at 311 Nicholas C. Schouten Lane (cash and credit cards are accepted) so visitors can pick Fay Elberta peaches on a first-come, first-served basis. Proceeds will support student programs, and additional items like sweet corn, watermelons, cantaloupes, cut flowers, honey, and organic white cheddar cheese will also be available. Chico State Today
- ➤ CHICO Housing Action Team has launched the Lasting Impact: The Founders' Legacy Campaign to raise $400,000 by Sept. 30 as its founding members will retire at the end of September + officials say the drive is needed to cover a funding gap from the loss of long-term government support and delays in new resources. - ➤ Chico Police asked for help finding missing 14-year-old Patience Knauff, who was last seen at 1:25 a.m. on Aug. 5 at the One Mile/Sycamore Pool area — she is described as a white girl with brown hair and brown eyes wearing a light tube top and jean shorts and is believed to be on foot.
