ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A bakery van was knocked over in downtown Chico by a T-bone collision near the intersection of 8th and Wall Streets around 7:30 a.m.—the driver said his airbag saved him while all the bread was lost. Officer Daniel Sagastume of the Chico Police Traffic Unit said no one was injured. Action News Now

- ➤ Oroville woman Jessica Nichols pleaded no contest on August 7 to shooting and killing her husband while he slept in their apartment and claimed self-defense after he charged her, though audio evidence disputes that account. KRCR
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A new museum of clocks, watches, and antiques opens today at Garden Walk in Chico. It extends Father Time—a 30-year-old clock repair shop—and preserves local and world history after the Bidwell Mansion fire with free entry and antiques for sale. Action News Now
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Triple-digit temperatures are raising heat risks across Northstate communities this weekend, and officials have set up cooling centers — including the Butte County Library Chico Branch at 1108 Sherman Ave — to help residents manage the heat. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Butte County Sheriff's Office expanded its Records Unit to the North County Service Center in Chico—located at 402 Otterson Drive, Suite 120—last Friday. The center operates from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and now helps residents submit records requests, process alarm permits, obtain vehicle release slips and ask CCW questions.
