COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Engine 8332 from the Chico Fire Department was sent to support the Gifford Fire burning in San Luis Obispo County—firefighters joined crews from Redding, Lake Shastina, and Sacramento River Fire District as part of a task force response. The fire began on Aug. 1, has burned 119,214 acres, and is now 33% contained.  KRCR

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A transformer fire near Forest Avenue and Highway 32 at around 4AM Monday left 76 PG&E customers without power — officials said restoration was expected by 11:30 a.m.  Action News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Chico police have offered a $50K reward for new leads in the unsolved murder of Chico State student Veronica Perotti—investigators continue working on the case.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Butte County will hold a public hearing on its updated Election Administration Plan on August 26 at two locations—9 a.m. at the Oroville Library and 3 p.m. at the Chico branch. Residents are encouraged to review the draft plan on the Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters website.  Action News Now
  • Yesterday, Congressman Doug LaMalfa hosted an in-person town hall meeting at Chico Elks Lodge where he listened to comments from local residents.  Action News Now
