- ➤ A 7-acre bike park is under construction in Chico—workers are making steady progress to create a new outdoor facility for local riders. Action News Now
- ➤ Chico held a ceremonial groundbreaking Thursday for its new $30 million Aquatics & Recreation Center donated by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. co-founders Ken Grossman and Katie Gonser— the project will feature competition and recreational pools, a lazy river and two water slides and is slated to open in fall. City leaders say the center will expand local recreation opportunities. Action News Now
- ➤ The Butte County Fair starts today and will run for four days. A heat advisory warns of temperatures up to 107 — fair visitors are advised to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure. Action News Now

- ➤ Chico authorities report that two suspects—arrested during a welfare check on Glacier Peak Lane—will enter a plea today for alleged child and animal abuse. Action News Now

- ➤ On August 19th, Chico City Council voted 5-2 to repave South Park Drive using Plan 4, which costs $657,388 and will keep the road open to cars, bikes — and pedestrians. They revisited a previous plan that would have closed the road to cars after receiving strong public feedback. KRCR

- ➤ Chico State women's soccer head coach Kim Sutton announced she will retire after the 2025 season, ending her 24-year career that brought six CCAA North Division titles and seven NCAA Championship Tournament appearances+ her final season kicks off with a game against Hawai`i Hilo on September 5.
