  • A 46-year-old man named Ezra McDaniel was arrested in Chico on August 15 for riding his bicycle without proper lighting after deputies discovered a felony warrant—searches of his backpack and wallet found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, an air pellet handgun, and a mask that set him up for a felony drug charge.  Action News Now
  • A Chico man wanted on felony charges was arrested on August 15 after a deputy spotted him riding his bicycle without proper lighting and discovered a warrant, prompting a search that found over 14 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, an air pellet handgun and a mask—additional meth was found in his wallet.  KRCR

  • Butte College ranked 55th nationally and 14th among community colleges in California according to WalletHub's review of over 650 schools — the ranking shows the college's focus on affordable tuition, small classes, and a supportive learning environment. The college offers more than 200 programs designed to help students transfer to four-year universities or start their careers.  Action News Now

  • Today, Lori Templeton, CEO of Grind Fire Defense, advised local homeowners to rake up dead vegetation and trim trees to lower wildfire risks as fall begins—she noted that cleaning dry debris now can help reduce fire dangers in the coming months.  KRCR
  • New data from Aug 25 showed that wolf pack activity and cattle depredation increased in Northern California — Butte, Modoc and Plumas Counties reported more signs of wolves, and officials plan to monitor the trend closely.  Action News Now
