- ➤ Mora Sounds partners with KZFR to host Kool Nights in the Pinez at Paradise Pines RV Park Amphitheatre—this music festival will feature live local performances and family activities such as a bounce house, mini golf, games and train rides. The event will raise funds for KZFR and help Justin Mora rebuild his business after the Camp Fire. Action News Now
- ➤ The City of Chico will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chico Marketplace parking lot near Chili’s to celebrate the completed Bikeway 99 Phase 5 Bridge over East 20th Street+Mayor Kasey Reynolds and city staff will give remarks while guests may join a bike ride or walk and enjoy light refreshments. - ➤ Butte College's Chico Center is planning an expansion with two new buildings—one for cosmetology and barbering classes and one for a new science lab. The college says the project will help students learn better and meet the need for skilled workers. Action News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chico officials are challenging the Warren Settlement Agreement that came from a lawsuit in 2020 and 2021 over anti camping laws because they say it limits enforcement and endangers public safety. They filed a motion on August 14 and plan another on September 10 to let the city prevent homeless encampments in high fire danger areas — a step aimed at improving safety. KRCR
