- ➤ Work on the historic Matador Motel on the Esplanade in Chico continued yesterday as crews applied fresh paint and leveled the roadway and parking lot—preparing them for a new asphalt layer. Action News Now
- ➤ This weekend in Chico brings a series of events—local comedy, drag shows, film screenings, live music and house concerts are on the schedule—while California Taco Fest and Car Show kicks off today at 11 a.m. at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds, featuring food, music and classic cars with additional performances running through Sunday. - ➤ The Chico Area Recreation & Park District will host an annual Lakeside Lunch event for local seniors on September 17 at the Lakeside Pavilion on California Park Drive. - ➤ After a long renovation project that removed fallen trees, cleared graffiti, and replaced damaged or missing baseboards and bench bases, the historic Bidwell Bowl Amphitheater in Chico was revived — it is now preserved for modern use. Action News Now
- ➤ Organizers of the Chico Day of the Dead Festival say the event will move from the Barn at Meriam Park to the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds on Saturday, Nov. 1 from noon to 6 p.m.—it will feature 100 vendors, including 20 food vendors and three bands. - ➤ The 30th annual Nome Cult Walk will begin Sunday, Sept. 14 and run through Sept. 20 along a route from Chico to Round Valley through the Mendocino National Forest.
