- ➤ The Butte Humane Society held its 114th anniversary gala on Saturday night at Sierra Nevada Brewery, raising $126,448 to support local animal care programs—exceeding its $15,000 online fundraising goal by 843%. KRCR
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The 30th Annual Nome Cult Walk began over the weekend and is now taking participants from Chico to Covelo to honor Native ancestors who were forced to march in 1863. Walkers aim to cover 15-25 miles each day while the U.S. Forest Service advises motorists to drive carefully (today the group is heading to Black Bear Campground). KRCR

- ➤ Jesus Center in Chico received a $1.6 million contract to expand its vocational training programs for homeless and former inmates—funded by a partnership with the Butte County Office of Education and Caltrans' Back to Work program. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Restoration of the historic Bidwell Mansion has begun with a team from California State Parks conducting safety assessments—checking fire damage and structural integrity—while they collect samples to guide future repairs. - ➤ Mike O’Brien was named Interim Town Manager of Paradise effective September 15—he will run town services while the Town Council looks for a permanent leader. - ➤ Electric vehicle drivers in California will lose solo carpool lane access starting October 1st as Clean Air Vehicle decals no longer grant the special privilege—affecting about 500,000 drivers who have benefited from the program for 25 years.
