- ➤ The family of missing Chico native Bob Adams received his military ID in New York this week when a Vietnamese official presented it—58 years after his helicopter was shot down in Laos during the Vietnam War, Adams remains listed as missing. Action News Now

- ➤ CAL FIRE crews contained a vegetation fire burning in an almond orchard on Kennedy Avenue west of Chico on Tuesday using three engines and one water tender along with one Chico Fire Department engine—burning 1.7 acres before crews began one hour of mop-up while investigating the cause. - ➤ Executive Director Bob Maness and actress Trinity Landingham—who portrays Wednesday Addams—joined anchor Linda Watkins-Bennett to preview upcoming performances of The Addams Family Musical Comedy at the First Street Theater in Downtown Chico. The production, directed by Maness and choreographed by Evelyn Leadford with music direction by Chloe Brandi, will offer a memorable experience for local theatergoers. Action News Now

- ➤ Chico State University was ranked among the nation’s top institutions in the 2026 Best Colleges Rankings from US News, climbing to No. 9 in Top Public Schools West and No. 16 Overall in Regional Universities West. - ➤ Chico is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony tonight for its new $23M bike bridge that connects the north and south bike paths along Highway 99 at 6:30 p.m.—city officials will speak while the project is dedicated to honor Kristina Chesterman, a Chico State nursing student killed by a drunk driver in 2013. The bridge was funded with $18M from state and federal grants and $5M from city bikeway funds. Action News Now
- ➤ Glenn Medical Center will close its only emergency room at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30 while the Willows Fire Department will add new help by starting an Advanced Life Support non-transport program by January 1, 2026—ambulances will then take patients to hospitals in Chico and Red Bluff. - ➤ Glenn Medical Center will close its emergency department at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30 because of staffing shortages—ambulances will transport patients to hospitals in Chico and Red Bluff.
