COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Mulberry Music Station Brewery in Chico reopens today under new owner David Green—a local musician—who plans a grand opening week with a meet and greet from 5—6 p.m. and live performances to boost local music, with hours set to adjust based on turnout. The venue, which closed in March after five years, now offers no cover charge while encouraging donations.  KRCR
  • Your Local Marketplace will host Spellbound, a pop-up event at Lassen Traditional Cidery on October 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature over 20 local vendors, kids' crafts, a trick-or-treat booth, seasonal cider, and live music—supporting local business and community.  Action News Now
  • A community meeting will be held today at 6 p.m. at Chico Nut Company on West 11th Avenue and the Esplanade to gather local opinions on repurposing an underused industrial site. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Fuzzies is a horror comedy film set in the 1980s that was shot in Chico and Cohasset and premiered Wednesday night at the Pageant Theater; it is showing today and was made with help from local residents and more than 40 Chico State students — more releases are planned later this year.  KRCR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Chico school board is reviewing plans to upgrade Parkview Elementary—adding flexible classrooms, outdoor learning spaces, a track and field, and an amphitheater to support STEM education. The renderings show the campus design will center on an atom symbol—highlighting the school’s focus on innovative learning.  Action News Now
  • California State University officials held a symposium in Chico on October 15th to review the Graduation Initiative 20-25, which has improved first-year graduation rates by nearly 18 points and exceeded its goal for two-year transfer students — they discussed plans to broaden transfer pathways, enhance advising, and support equity gaps.  KRCR
  • At Wednesday’s meeting, the Chico Unified School Board discussed modernization plans for Parkview, Rosedale, and Chapman Elementary Schools — the board will share details on next steps soon.  Action News Now
