  • United Against Hate Week started in Butte County yesterday—local groups like The Arc of Butte County worked to educate people and stop bullying and discrimination.  Action News Now
  • On Oct 21, Action News Now reporter Emilio del Carpio reported from Julia's Fruit Stand in Los Molinos that weather impacted this year's holiday harvest.  Action News Now
  • United Against Hate Week started in Butte County — its focus is to stop hate, bullying, and discrimination. The Arc of Butte County is partnering with NorCal Stop the Hate — they plan a community event on November 13 at 6 p.m. to show ways to fight bias.  Action News Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • North State Symphony is set to perform live alongside the classic film Frankenstein in Chico and Redding — the symphony will play the score by Grammy-nominated composer Michael Shapiro to create a spine-chilling event.  Action News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Chico High School employee raised concerns that locking campus gates during lunch might block emergency exit access— the school district said alternative, supervised access points remain open and the fire department will conduct spot inspections in the next two weeks to ensure safety measures meet code.  Action News Now
  • Chico State will open a 9,500-square-foot Agricultural Education Center and Jay Gilbert Farm Store at the University Farm this week to offer hands-on learning in modern agricultural practices. University President Steve Perez and alumnus Jay Gilbert will speak at the grand opening on October 23 at 11 a.m. — the center will host courses in food processing, biotechnology, and sustainable production while selling local farm products at 311 Nicholas C. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nearly seven years after the Camp Fire, thousands of survivors are filing a class action lawsuit against PG&E and the Fire Victim Trust over unpaid payouts—Camp Fire survivor Sydney Robinson, who lost her childhood home, calls for a third-party audit to bring transparency to the process.  Action News Now
  • On October 18th, the Butte County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team and Chico Fire Department held a joint drill in the Jonesville and Colby Mountain areas — volunteer riders were placed in remote spots and then extracted by helicopter to practice real emergency rescues.  KRCR
  • The Senate is preparing for a crucial vote on the Fix Our Forests Act after it moved out of committee at noon. The bipartisan act is expected to combat wildfires—restore forest ecosystems and improve federal management.  Action News Now
