- ➤ Northern Valley Catholic Social Service will start its yearly Adopt-A-Family program to help local families by letting donors choose a family to receive new, wrapped holiday gifts in Butte, Shasta, Tehama and Trinity counties. The program runs until Dec. 12—volunteers are needed on days to hand out the gifts. KRCR
- ➤ The Chico Area Recreation and Park District is hosting a free Halloween movie night at DeGarmo Park on Friday with an outdoor screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas starting at dusk. Festivities include a costume contest at 6:15 p.m.—a scavenger hunt, bounce houses, face painting, food trucks with eats and drinks, complimentary popcorn and a live Chico Community Band performance.
