GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Butte County Supervisors met on Tuesday to review the completed Chico Five-Mile SAFE Basin Project and to plan its long-term upkeep, which may be transferred to the city in the future. • The City of Chico is upgrading parking signage and kiosks downtown to simplify payment and enhance the overall parking experience. City officials said the improvements follow community feedback and will be finished within the next month — new yellow and blue signs show parking limits and kiosk screens now feature a simple blue background.  KRCR
  • Due to an ongoing federal government shutdown, delays for CalFresh and SNAP benefits set to start November 1 will affect about 40,000 people in Butte County while local food banks in Oroville work to meet rising demand. North State Food Bank, which serves around 15,000 people across Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Plumas, and Sierra counties, has limited funding restricted to California-grown food — and Governor Newsom has offered national guard support and advance funds for logistics.  Action News Now
