- ➤ Chico’s largest Run for Food is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, November 27 and will start at 9 a.m. near Caper Acres in Lower Bidwell Park—this family-friendly fundraiser for the Jesus Center will support local homelessness. Action News Now
- ➤ The Community Action Agency of Butte County will hold drive-thru tailgate food giveaways in November to help families who will lose SNAP and CalFresh benefits because of the government shutdown. The events will be held at several sites including Southside Community Center in Oroville on November 7, Williams Family Action Center in Colusa on November 6, Magalia Community Church on November 14, Glenn County Fairgrounds on November 12, and Biggs Community Hall on November 21. - ➤ A new building, the Howard Slater Navigation Center, held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct 30 to mark its opening—its purpose is to offer services and assistance to the local homeless community. Action News Now

- ➤ Today, Chico residents can attend the drag burlesque show 'It's Halloween, Honey' at Winchester Goose at 1 p.m. and the Union After Dark performance in Oroville at 10 p.m. The 3rd Annual Day of the Dead Festival will be held on Nov 11 at Silver Dollar Fairgrounds — offering live art, music and family activities. - ➤ Students from Sherwood Montessori visited Big Tuna yesterday as part of their Japanese culture studies, where the restaurant offered a complimentary Lunch and Learn.
