- ➤ Foreman Brian Werner of Biggs set a new record at the Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival—his Atlantic Giant pumpkin weighed 2147 pounds and measured 206.5 inches, earning him a 7000 dollar prize. Action News Now
- ➤ Butte County is spotlighting youth homelessness this November as the Voices United Youth Advisory Board organizes events for National Homeless Youth Awareness Month—activities include a tabling at the Almond Bowl 5K/10K on November 2 at Bidwell Park, proclamations by Gridley, Chico, Oroville, and Paradise Town, and a vigil at Chico Municipal Building on November 13. Data show nearly 1,800 students experienced homelessness during the 2023-24 school year, and while the 6th Street Center for Youth in Chico helps 275 youth each year, the county still lacks an overnight shelter and proper support services.
