- ➤ A Chico State senior is organizing a Thanksgiving food drive to help 25 to 50 low-income families affected by the government shutdown by collecting turkeys and funds. The event will be held on November 20 at 12 p.m. at a local park in Chico—more location details will be announced soon. Action News Now
- ➤ Girls on the Run of the North State will host its first 'Better Together' Community Wellness Fair this Saturday—celebrating 15 years of empowering girls across the region. Action News Now
- ➤ Paradise woman Kellen Harry is autistic — she has hand-knitted over 1,400 colorful beanies and baskets, which she donates to Enloe Medical Center to help newborns and cancer patients. Her work shows her talent and determination to share comfort with others. Action News Now

- ➤ Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is celebrating its 45th anniversary by offering its rarest beer—Celly Drippins—for the first time at its Chico brewery in 10-ounce pours for $8. The beer, made using drips from wet hop bags originally from its Mills River brewery, is expected to sell out from 14 kegs. Action News Now

- ➤ Mary Cox of CORE Butte Charter School in Chico has been honored with the Hart Vision Equity and Innovation Award—recognizing her innovative leadership and work in flex-based education. Her award will be celebrated at the California Charter Schools Conference on February 26—where other charter leaders will also be recognized for their commitment to equity and innovation. - ➤ A rare solar storm lit up Northern California skies over the weekend—faint bands of green and red aurora were seen along the horizon. Chief Meteorologist Preston Donion said the geomagnetic storm pushed the lights farther south and that further displays are unlikely. KRCR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ California Water Service began upgrading Chico’s water system last month to improve water reliability and fire protection. Crews installed 750 feet of new PVC main and nine service lines near Cherry Street and will finish the work by month's end—further upgrades for the South Campus area are planned for next year through 2027. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Chico State men's basketball head coach Cevin Meador said the team is preparing for the upcoming season and will adjust to changes in the transfer portal and name image likeness rules—he stressed that staying alert is key to managing quick player transitions in a fast-paced sports environment. - ➤ Chico City Plaza ice rink will open tomorrow and host a new 3-on-3 hockey league that starts on November 18 with games on Tuesday nights from 8 to 10 p.m. The 40 participants on six teams are already set with a waitlist in place—spots remain available for a broomball league. KRCR
- ➤ Former Wildcats Annie Ward and Kevin Warren have returned to join Chico State basketball coaching staffs—Ward as lead assistant for the women’s team and Warren as an assistant for the men’s team.
